Hey, I'm Matt.
I'm a creative based in Staunton, VA. I have a background in design of all types—graphic design, interior design, all types of print and media—but what I really love is scenic design for community theater.
An actor's job on the stage is to take the audience away. To immerse them in the story. I believe that the set plays an important role in this. It's not just a backdrop. To me, the set is another character in the show and I try to design my sets with that in mind.
I specialize in hyper-realistic scenic designs and I try to put an absurd amount of detail into each of my sets. I want the audience to forget that they are in a theater. Period.
From the initial planning phase to the actual construction to the realization and set dressing, I prefer to be responsible and involved in each step of the process. I love to scavenge the local Goodwill and dig through dusty corners of antique stores to find just the perfect pieces to bring a set to life.
I am available for freelance projects. If I can help you, get in touch.
